Before returning to Maine in March, 2005 to head the Maine Civil Liberties Union, Shenna Bellows was the National Field Organizer for the American Civil Liberties Union’s Washington, DC Legislative Office. Bellows was previously a field organizer for 9/11 issues for the ACLU. She was the keynote speaker at the MCLU’s November 2003 civil liberties conference “Safeguarding Our Freedom: Preserving Civil Liberties Under the USA PATRIOT Act.”
Prior to her involvement with ACLU, Ms. Bellows worked for Community IMPACT! in Nashville, TN; served in the Peace Corps in La Arena de Chitre, Panama; and, worked as a researcher and recruiter for Economists Incorporated.
Ms. Bellows graduated magna cum laude from Middlebury College in Vermont with a degree in International Politics and Economics. She grew up in Hancock, Maine.
